#SparkTheChange /How to better the lives of unprivileged women in India

This article is about ''women empowerment''.Okay so you are bored already , so much has been said by our netas, academicians, women police officers, entrepreneurs and all others who has time to say few words prefarably on occasions like women's day or when some ghastly violence has been reported on some woman and leave without actually giving a thought on how to implement something and spread awareness.Crimes or violence against women range from stalking, molestation, rape, domestic violence, voyeurism, Acid throwing, child marriage, dowry, honour killings, female infanticide, sex-selective abortion etc and they are increasing rapidly!.. Let's find out the root causes for all the problems women might have been facing in India:

1.India is still a patriarchical society.
2.No proper implementation of laws which are drafted.
3.No swift judgements by courts.
4.Lack of education.
5.Save a girl child campaign is still not working. There are still people in India who think having a son is better!
6.No equality.(Giving reservations to women is not the solution, It is in fact injustice to men!)
7.Poverty(Leading to prostitution, Trafficking )etc..

So what can we do to overcome the above shortcomings and make a change? I believe the first step towards solving the problem here is ''Education''.Women must be given freedom to make their own choice in either choosing a life partner or making economic decisions or to choose a job she loves doing.People are wrong if they think this is not happening in only rural India , it is happening everywhere, you just refuse to accept it.So we need freedom and education to solve half the problems. The other half of the problems can be solved by earning(employment) and changing your mindset! Yes, you saw this correctly!

Setting up ''women only'' educational institutions doesn't prepare a woman to face the challenges in the real world. You may think they are safe but they will not fine tune your social and interpersonal skills with the opposite sex very well and you end up only as an individual having doubts, prejudices and fears.

And women can marry any number of times if she wants to just like a man.No more white sarees and non-inviting a widow to a ceremony! It doesn't even make sense because a female's life expectancy is higher!
And this is so true everywhere!
Firstly, women need to be educated.Primary Education is compulsory in India but many of us personally know kids (both sexes) working in building constructions, small bistros; those 'chotus' we just turn a blind eye towards. This mentality should also be changed. The employers should get scared to make a child work in the 21st century, but this is not happening. This is not just a failure of the government it is our collective failure that we are not doing anything remotely significant at all.The Tehelka case is waiting for a verdict and the woman who lodged the complaint is still hailed as brave, courageous etc,This mentality should change and everyone must be made known of the laws of the land.We need a Malala in our country too to make people realize the importance of education.I believe change will happen when more than 90% literacy rate is achieved in India. Also the mindset of many Indians needs a serious makeover!Pictures speak a thousand words. Here are some pictures relating to women.

The pathetic mentality explained very well through this cartoon:
So saying all women are doormats!? Fans of Picasso ,do have a look!

Self help groups do make a lot of difference. But some customs and traditions should cease to exist which are harming women not only physically but draining them mentally.Treating women as second grade citizens should stop as women are excelling in various fields.Until and unless a women speaks for another women nothing will change. For this to happen you should imagine yourself in her position,be it a maid undergoing domestic violence on a regular basis or a street woman vendor facing problems with men.One should always give support to them.

This is from an ad, but I just couldn't help sharing this one!
Honour killings must be prevented at any cost.

Agree?

Poverty alleviation is a challenging problem that India is facing, if we eradicate poverty most of the problems of women regarding nutrition for pregnant women, sanitation, health issues etc can be solved.

When people protesting Delhi gang rape were driven away by cops!
Castration along with mutilation may sound gory/torture than death penalty but it is better to emasculate rapists if not kill them.

Death penalty/capital punishment should not be abolished at any cost ever in my opinion. The people against death penalty say that it is against human rights/dignity, What about crime/offense committed then? Innocent people getting executed is a rarity, but if death penalty is removed, it will lead to rise in the number of crimes and it is obviously a better deterrent than any other form of punishment!
Finally, ''To Rule is to Serve'', If the ruling bunch of women can't fathom the conditions of unprivileged women and the problems they are facing in India and do something about it which can be done by them if they put their minds and heart to it, Karma pays back!

''Empowerment of women is her power over herself than anyone else.''
We should spark the change by sowing the seeds of courage in women!
To Men: We do not want to be treated as goddesses, but only as your equals! Put an end to domestic abuse.
So much has been told, but we looking at the happenings in this country if are not well prepared to deal with any situation that may arise with either self defence, verbally, knowledge on laws protecting women etc, every other thing goes down the drain!
Yes, prevention is better. The kind of mental & physical torture a woman experiences after violence against her and the social stigma associated with it makes it worse! But coming out strong is more important!
Few Tips:

Having a helpline number saved or using apps helps but not always, don't always rely on them, be practical & strong!

And I end this with a favorite quote of mine:

                                                                     -Adios, Kavya Seetala.
If You Like the article & the pictures which were collected after extensive research by me, Be sure to share and spread the message.Peace.

  1. i agree with you fully that women's rights have to change , but not only in india ,all over the world. hopefully the world will get better because one day i will be done with school and if the world doesn't change it will be hard for me to get a job and in some jobs men get payed more then women so i might not have as big of a pay check but really the main reason for me is that i don't want to be thought of some sexual being by all the men out there. i want them to look at my inside and not my body. in the song wiggle it's just sad how much the artist is offense to women. i would never want a boyfriend or husband like that even if he's rich. i could go on and on about women's right ,but i just came to thank you for writing such a wonderful thing. so thanks

    1. Thank you for your comment. My suggestion to you is do not fear anything or anyone. There are good men out there too.In my article I wanted to highlight the rising cases of cruelty towards women in general in India and elsewhere.I agree with you that the censor board is sleeping all the time, subtle dialogues which psychologically ingrain us that women are inferior beings, titillating scenes, vulgar dances are in every language movies.Work hard and do not care what others think of you. It's their problem not yours. It's a right thing to marry someone out of love and not because he is rich.Riches may go away but a good heart is always desirable.Until and unless collective effort and fearless dialogue is done by everyone nothing can be changed regarding attitudes.Let's hope the future days might be better. And remember '“No matter how dark the night, somehow the sun rises once again and all shadows are chased away”.:)
