Remembering my Grandma

My Nanamma of 7 Holy Names๐ŸŒž✨

๐Ÿ“ŒThe soul is neither born, nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.๐Ÿ“Œ

-Shri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita (Nanamma's fave ๐Ÿ“™)

My Nanamma(Paternal Grandmother) was named Sita Rama Mohana Lakshmi Anasuya Krishna Tulasi because she had 7 brothers. Her official name in short is Krishna Tulasi.

My dear Nanamma, I am at loss for words to describe how I am feeling about your loss.๐Ÿ’ฌI have learnt a lot from you just by watching you do things. You are the most strong๐Ÿ’ช, Independent, peaceful and spiritual person that I know of.Your love for Lord Krishna is extraordinary.May you go to the heavens you desired for.May you reach grandpa (Late Seetala Siva Rama Krishna Murthy) and have a happy afterlife.

My Nanamma was a very hardworking๐Ÿ’ฆ woman and never showed an ounce of frustration. She calmly went on with her life. She used to make potato fry for me as I love It.She is an excellent cook ๐Ÿณ and used to make sweets in no time. Her pakoras are very yummy as well. Her smile is Infectious.I am just glad that she was able to see and hold Riya ๐Ÿ‘ถ(My Daughter) because she is the youngest of her great grand children. She is wise, strong and fiercely Independant and always made sure that everybody is well fed when they come to her.She never wasted any resources, not even a string of thread from any parcels or potlis. She used to carefully & swiftly roll It away and store It on the fridge for further use.How to live life with zero or minimum wastage is something we should learn from their generation.

I am just proud to know you as a person.I always felt good telling your extremely long name to anyone who would listen and It is still the longest name I know of in person. All beautiful holy names which are well suited for the extraordinary person that you are.I remember when she made omelettes, there will be oodles of oil in It to mask the smell of the egg as she is a staunch vegetarian but knows how to cook all kinds of meat and stuff because tatayya used to eat everything.

It was painful to watch her suffer due to age related Illnesses from the past year or so and although I feel sad saying this, I am sure she is in a better & happy place as she deserves It.Being helpless when someone is suffering in front of our eyes and not being able to do anything is the worst feeling ever.

With her Bluish-Grey eyes & light colored skin tone she was beautiful and her traditional avatar with the nose ring and ear studs with chains/hangings, she had a pleasant countenance and charm and always stood out in a crowd. She looked royal & unique in dark colored pattu sarees.I wish that my offspring and theirs get some of her awesome DNA.She is an epitome of grace & love.๐Ÿ’–

As a child whenever I visited Zamidaggumilli (Dad's Village), I used to sit & wait patiently for Nanamma's puja to be over to eat the crystal sugar she offers god as prasadam. She is such an ardent devotee of god that, for her lighting diya infront of Tulsi plant or puja in general is an everyday affair.I never saw her miss her puja routine.she is either chanting or praying most of  the time. Her wish of getting a Saraswathi devi statue installed in a mini temple of the school infront of her home materialized and It was a happy moment for her. She loved watching either Bhakthi TV or TTD TV channels.Zamidaggumilli always reminds me of lotuses, Ice apple, Mangoes, wells, ponds, fish๐ŸŸ & lush green fields.

She has a giving & compassionate nature. Her handmade woollen door toran still hangs in my parents home. She doesn't have any Interest in hoarding/accumulating money or apparel or Jewellery. She was satisfied with very less and giving was her way of life and she lived humbly & truthfully all her life. Her putting on the Urdhva Pundra (Tilak worn by vaishnavites) daily is a treat to watch with her shaking hands in the ripe old age.๐Ÿ‘ต Hers is a life well-lived.I cherish all the moments I got to spend with her.We had a special bond and she always wanted me to become more Independent and aspire higher.I need you people to watch over me and bless me from the heavens Nanamma & Taatayya.๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿ™

The only regret I have is not being able to be with you in your last moments and after because of the quarantine restrictions.I pray for better days ahead in general so that events like this cannot be missed by anyone.
